Why we love our pets…
It’s estimated that there are between 40 million and 70 million pets in the world. What qualifies as a pet? Well, it’s an animal that’s kept for companionship or enjoyment around the household rather than for working or sporting reasons. People LOVE their pets and consider them part of their family. Here are a few of the animals that make great pets and the TOP REASONS their owners say they love them!
1. Dogs - Cuddly, playful, loyal, great for getting out and getting exercise
2. Cats - Curious, playful, independent
3. Fish – Easy to care for, colourful, inexpensive to keep
4. Birds – Exotic, interesting, pretty
5. Small reptiles – Low maintenance, interesting, gentle
A recent survey on PET OWNERSHIP shows that there are an estimated 7.9 million cats and 5.9 million dogs in CANADA. The survey also shows that 35% of Canadian households have a dog, while 38% have a cat.
