On March 15, scientists working in the Antarctic were totally stunned when they discovered a shrimp-like creature (and a jellyfish!) frolicking beneath a massive Antarctic ice sheet. This was 183 metres below the ice where no light shines, so scientists had figured nothing more than a few microbes could exist there.

NASA will be making a new video about this finding, which is likely to inspire experts to rethink what they know about life in harsh environments. Think about this: if creatures can thrive under 600 feet of Antarctic ice in subfreezing dark water, what about other hostile places? What about life on other planets??
