The big differences are in the design because the frame of a BMX is smaller than that of a mountain bike and is therefore lighter. Further, a BMX bike has only one gear and, at twenty inches, the wheels are much smaller than that of a mountain bike. The differences in BMX bikes and mountain bikes are therefore clear to see.
How can BMX’s provide a full Body Workout?
The difference between BMX bikes and mountain bikes is that the former have been designed to allow the rider to be able to perform stunts and tricks on them. You will increase the strength in your arms and legs by working your muscles when pedalling and lifting the handlebars to perform tricks.
2. Increase Cardiovascular Fitness
Although this is also true of all cycling, BMX riding also helps to decrease your risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels and heart rate. It does this by increasing your cardiovascular fitness which means that your body is better able to oxygen more efficiently.
3. Achieve a greater Calorie Burn
An average man biking for a full 60 minute session would burn over 500 calories. This has the added benefit of not only help you to shed extra pounds but also to maintain a healthy weight which can help to reduce the risk of you getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease and some forms of cancer.
