Top tips for planning your next holiday

When you’re travelling long-term, you can afford to “wing it” and do the bare minimum when it comes to planning. But when you only get to go on one or two holidays a year, taking the time to plan appropriately can have a massive impact on the success of your trip.

Here are some top tips for planning your next holiday:

Choose your dates wisely

Sure, you may want to explore Europe in summer, but so does every other tourist. By shifting your plans by a few weeks, you can avoid the worst of the heat and the worst of the crowds, while still having an excellent time. Consider visiting Europe in May or between September and October for decent weather and much shorter lines at key sights.

Research in advance

Researching in advance is a good idea for two reasons. First, you’ll be able to get excited when you think of all the amazing things you’ll see and do on your holiday. And second, you can hit the ground running when you arrive and already know exactly what you want to see and do so you can make the most of your time. Do yourself a favour and read some blogs and articles about the cities or towns you’ll be visiting. Find out what the locals do, and where they hang out so you can have a more authentic (and cheaper) experience.

Don’t forget travel insurance

You should purchase travel insurance while you’re planning and ideally before you book your trip. That’s because if you purchase travel insurance before you book flights and accommodation, and then you can’t travel for reasons outside of your control, you’ll be covered and insurance will reimburse you for your trip. Don’t risk being left uncovered and compare travel insurance with Webjet while you’re planning your holiday.

Consider booking a package

Don’t have time to plan out your trip? You may want to book a package holiday instead. These holidays have been put together by experts, so you can be sure you’re getting an excellent price without needing to sort out your flights, airport transfers, and accommodation separately. Check out Webjet holiday packages, so you can be sure you’re getting a great deal without having to actually research hotels and flights yourself.
